86 the 80’s: A Fun, Modern Farmhouse Kitchen Overhaul

Budget Kitchen Renovation - Marietta, GA - 2017

Budget Kitchen Renovation - Marietta, GA - 2017
This bright yellow 1980s kitchen in a unique 1970s split-level home was ready for a fresh, modern look. By keeping the existing cabinet boxes, we achieved a budget-friendly transformation with custom-made doors that elevated the overall style. The upper cabinets were refreshed with a softer white, Dove White, while the base cabinets were painted a rich turquoise blue, bringing personality and charm back into the space without the overpowering yellow walls.
Clean, modern hardware updated the cabinetry, and a custom-built cedar range hood added warmth and texture to the design. All appliances were replaced with new models, and a pre-rinse faucet introduced a chef-inspired touch to the smaller kitchen. The existing white quartz countertops and enameled cast iron sink were retained, proving that thoughtful updates can work beautifully alongside original elements. This kitchen now boasts a modern farmhouse vibe with a fun and colorful twist!
From Burgundy And Tight To Open and Bright
This kitchen was once dominated by burgundy red tones and cramped spaces. At the top of the stairs, a bulky coat closet blocked entry to the kitchen, making the entire area feel claustrophobic.
The design called for a complete overhaul—removing the closet, gutting the kitchen (cabinets, counters, appliances, and all), and feathering in new hardwoods to create consistent flooring throughout the open design. By opening up the room, we were able to elongate the kitchen layout, incorporating a spacious island and ample cabinet storage.
We used IKEA cabinet boxes paired with custom doors from Semi-Handmade for a high-end yet budget-conscious solution. Stainless steel appliances with brushed brass accents were chosen to coordinate seamlessly with the brushed brass hardware, faucet, pot filler, and lighting.
The result is a bright, open, and vastly more functional kitchen that perfectly balances style and practicality.

Outdated to Elevated: A Galley Bath Transformation

With no room to expand, this galley-style master bathroom required a thoughtful redesign to modernize the existing space. The transformation began by removing the damp carpeting, outdated single-sink vanity, and old jetted tub. In their place, we introduced a sleek, modern aesthetic with practical upgrades.
A contemporary vanity featuring a spacious trough sink for two now enhances functionality and style. Slate tile flooring adds durability and a touch of sophistication, while a luxurious shower with multiple sprayers replaced the tub, offering a spa-like experience. This once-cramped and dated bathroom is now sleek, simple, and perfectly suited for modern living.
